Day 3: The Fall

Today’s Scripture passage is Genesis chapter 3.

Why would God ask Adam “Where are you?”  Doesn’t God know everything?

It’s not hard to blame Adam and Eve for what happened in the garden, but don’t we often act in similar ways?  (As they say, ‘the apple doesn’t fall too far from the tree’ -pun intended).

Watch today’s 15-minute video devotional to explore this and other questions.

The ornament for today is an apple (or fruit, or whatever you choose!)

Lots of space bar presses this morning as Luke and I processed today’s advent reading. At first Luke saw that some fruit had sin in it. “Is that why we don’t have that mid-Eastern fruit in our house, Mom?” I scrambled and came up with an analogy of a toy truck not working correctly after the child mishandled it after being told how to use it properly. The truck itself just bears the consequences of the child’s mishandling. Lots of holes can be found in my analogy, but Luke really got the idea of the consequences of disobedience. Right now he is building a Minecraft apple with all the stairs leading to death except one set that goes to a bridge to Christ. Again, this is just his young interpretation of the Fall and Jesus being the only way to not die without hope.

Thanks, Jean (and other Fishers!). We are having a sweet time each morning!
