God marks his covenant with Abram in an unusual way. Today’s lesson will answer your questions about smoking firepots, torches, and animals that have been cut in half. The manner in which God sealed the covenant carries tremendous significance.

God then changes Abram’s name to “Abraham” meaning “father of a multitude.”

Did you know that believers will be given a new name in heaven? Revelation 2:17 says, “To the one who conquers I will give some of the hidden manna, and I will give him a white stone, with a new name written on the stone that no one knows except the one who receives it.”
Those of you with young children may want to join in a rousing chorus of “Father Abraham” today. Or not- we will leave that one up to you.
