Wouldn’t it be great if we knew the outcome of God’s plans ahead of time? Maybe not, as we will learn in today’s lesson.
David’s job of shepherd was not a desirable job. Yet, he was faithful with the task assigned to him, and this prepared him for the larger tasks God had for him as warrior and King. His example as a shepherd reflects Jesus, our Good Shepherd.
We will also ponder the beautiful reminder that “man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” How do you define yourself? By what humans see, or by what God sees?
And we will reflect on one of the greatest underdog stories in history, as David the shepherd confronts Goliath.
